Who will progress to Wembley under the lights at Craven Cottage?
Fulham v Derby – Monday
Fulham will be encouraged by teams that finished 3rd holding a W16-D4-L3 record in the second leg of Championship play-offs since 1994/95, while over the past 10 seasons the higher ranked side has netted at least three times on seven occasions. Indeed, since 1998/99, 13 of the 19 encounters featured Over 2.5 Goals with 10 seeing at least four strikes.
Tip: Over 2.5
Fulham v Derby [Total Goals Over/Under]
While Derby might well fancy themselves to get on the scoresheet, they’re unlikely to prevent the hosts from taking the win over 90 minutes as they’ve won just once in their last nine on the road. Fulham, meanwhile, have taken maximum points in 12 of 14 unbeaten games at Craven Cottage, though they’ll have to work hard for the win.
Teams that have finished 3rd have drawn the first half in nine out of 13 play-off semi-final second legs since 2004/05, going Draw/Win HT/FT in half of the last 10. Given Derby have only trailed after the opening period three times in their last 14 on their travels, this appears a shrewd way to go about backing the hosts.
Tip: Draw/Fulham
Fulham v Derby [Half Time/Full Time]
Sessegnon and Mitrovic have taken many of the plaudits for Fulham’s excellent second half to the season, but the contribution of Lucas Piazon shouldn’t be overlooked either.
The Chelsea loanee missed the first half of the season through injury but has since cemented his place in the starting XI, with his direct style of passing improving the team’s ability to move the ball forward quickly. Having netted four times in Fulham’s last eight at home, he offers a juicier price than his more obvious teammates.
Tip: Lucas Piazon
