Bristol Rovers v Oldham – Tuesday

Bristol Rovers lost their opening two games this term but those were against high-flying Charlton and Peterborough, whilst they’ve since managed three wins in their last four. Oldham on the other hand, picked up their first point of the season at Fleetwood last time out but we don’t expect them to add to their tally here. Rovers won all of their home games against bottom-10 opponents last term while Oldham are W0-D4-L10 when travelling to top-half opposition since the start of last season. However, they’re generally a pretty strong first-half team as they’ve trailed at the break in only one of their last 18 on the road and so we’re backing Draw/Bristol Rovers Half-Time/Full-Time at 4.85, whilst the win to nil is also of interest at 2.8 as Oldham have failed to score in 11 of their 13 away defeats since the start of last season.

Oxford Utd v Bradford – Tuesday

Oxford picked up their first win in four last time out as they beat struggling Gillingham at home but they should have a much tougher task here against 4th placed Bradford. Indeed, the Bantams were comfy 3-1 winners at Peterborough last time to make it seven points from a possible nine on their travels, whilst they’ve lost only seven of their 26 road games since the start of last term. As a result, Oxford look too short at 2.38 for a side that is just W3-D1-L6 when hosting top-10 opponents since the start of last season. We’re backing Bradford to win at 3.25 and continue their impressive start to the season – they’re in excellent scoring form having netted nine in their last three and the fact that Oxford have kept only one clean sheet in four will give them plenty of encouragement.

Shrewsbury v Southend – Tuesday

Shrewsbury climbed to the top of the table and made it five wins from six unbeaten games with their impressive 1-0 home victory over Wigan and we think they look overpriced at 2.38 to win again and make it six from seven. They come up against a Southend side that haven’t managed a win in five and have picked up just a single point on their travels (at struggling Gillingham), conceding 10 goals in the process. Shrewsbury, on the other hand, have now won 10 of their last 14 home games going back to the end of last season, including a 1-0 win over Southend themselves. Indeed, four of their last five home wins have been by 1-0 scores and so we wouldn’t put anyone off backing that at 7/1, but at odds-against Shrewsbury to pick up the three points is our best bet.
