Liverpool travel to the King Power Stadium for their EFL Cup 3rd round tie.
Leicester lost their last home game but that was against Chelsea and prior to that they’d eased to a comfy 2-0 win over Brighton in their only other game at the King Power so far. They’ve now won six of their nine home league games under Craig Shakespeare, with their two defeats coming against Spurs and Chelsea, but they beat Liverpool in their opening home game under the Englishman. Indeed, Leicester’s home record under Ranieri and Shakespeare is an impressive W23-D10-L7 and W4-D4-L5 against Chelsea, Liverpool and the Manchester and North London clubs. They’ve won their last two at home to Liverpool and so the Foxes look an excellent bet on the Double Chance.
Tip: Leicester-Draw
Leicester v Liverpool [Double Chance]
Liverpool were disappointing in the cups last term as they went out at home to Wolves in the FA Cup and lost both legs to Southampton in the EFL Cup semi-final. Given their Champions League commitments this term, Jurgen Klopp is likely to place even less emphasis on the domestic cups and so this looks a good opportunity to take them on. They haven’t gotten off to the best start on their travels and have leaked plenty of goals as they drew 3-3 at Watford on the opening day and were thumped 5-0 at the Etihad in their last road game. Since all of Leicester’s last six home games against top-six opposition saw at least three goals, while half saw four or more, we’ll back Over 3.5 Goals.
Tip: Over 3.5
Leicester v Liverpool [Total Goals Over/Under]
Indeed, given how poor Liverpool have been at the back, we can certainly envisage a similar scoreline to the 3-1 that happened the last time they went to the King Power. That correct score is a 25/1 shot, while the Foxes are 8/1 to cover the -1 handicap and whilst both of those appeal, we’ll opt for the correct score as our longshot here.
Tip: Leicester 3-1
Leicester v Liverpool [Correct Score]
