Bristol City v Aston Villa Betting Tips & Preview (Friday)

Villa have kept just five clean sheets in their last 25 away games

Bristol City have struggled in their last couple of games, only achieving draws against the current bottom two at home to a promoted Millwall side and on the road at winless Brentford. Aston Villa on the other hand look to be on the up after an impressive attacking display as they ran out 4-2 winners over Norwich, their first league victory this season. We think the bookies have slightly underestimated Villa here as they’ve endured a pretty tough start to the campaign, with their other three fixtures against Reading, Hull, and an inspired Cardiff. Therefore, we’re backing Villa to pick up a second consecutive win.

Tip: Aston Villa

Bristol City v Aston Villa

Both these sides have seen plenty of goalmouth action in their games so far this season, with each seeing four of their five games across all competitions feature at least three goals. Villa are yet to keep a clean sheet this term, and have in fact kept just five in their 25 road trips in the league since the start of last season, whilst Bristol City have netted 15 across their last seven on home turf. However, like Villa they’ve found clean sheets hard to come by, with just two across these seven games, and we think Over 2.5 Goals is likely.

Tip: Over 2.5

Bristol City v Aston Villa [Total Goals Over/Under]

We could just as easily have gone with both teams to score in this one, but the ‘overs’ offers slightly better value. Given the Bristolians have only conceded more than two goals twice in their 25 home games since the start of last season, we’re favouring a 1-2 correct score.

Tip: Aston Villa 2-1
