Sony Sugar youngster Joshua Otieno has landed a chance to train with Hull City academy after being part of SportPesa All Stars team that faced the English Premier League side in an exhibition match on Monday.
Otieno, 16, came on at the last minute of the game but The Tigers have noticed his abilities and offered him chance to remain in England for a few days. They have confirmed on their official website that the young midfielder will train with their U-18s, and who knows, it might just be the start of his professional football career in England.
Ex-Gor Mahia midfielder on verge of Zambia move
“Administration problems meant that Otieno only arrived in the UK 24 hours before the All Stars took to the field at the KCOM and, having only tasted a few seconds of football on English soil, the Tigers’ Academy stepped in to give the exciting midfielder the extra experience of training with the Club’s up-and-coming youngsters before he travels back to Kenya on Sunday,” a statement on Hull City website read.
If anything materializes for the Kakamega High School student then it will be a great gesture from the East Yorkshire-based club and the young talent shall have waded through all odds to prove his worth even if he was given only a few seconds during the SportPesa All Stars match against Hull City academy team.
